Lumina Co-Founder and Chief Data Scientist Dr. Morten Middelfart has been recognized as an IBM Champion. The IBM Champions program recognizes select individuals each year as IBM Champions for their innovative thought leadership in the technical community.
Dr. Middelfart was nominated, in part, because of his leadership and work on Lumina’s Radiance platform, which includes High-Performance Cloud Computing, Cognitive Computing (Artificial Intelligence), and experiments within Quantum Computing.
According to tech-giant, IBM Champions are a community of 600+ external experts across IBM offerings and around the world who are recognized by IBM for their extraordinary expertise and contributions to the technical community. These experts include “IT professionals, business leaders, developers, executives, educators, and influencers who support and mentor others.”
“It’s an honor to be recognized as part of such an elite group of experts working to advance the technology industry,” said Dr. Middelfart. “We have some of the industry’s best professionals at Lumina, and we will continue the important work we’re doing to keep companies and communities safe.”
IBM evaluates nominees both on the quality of contributions and the level of participation across a wide variety of community activities. IBM Champions are selected annually through a nomination process, where a panel of IBM employees and Lifetime IBM Champions review each nominee’s contributions over the past 12 months for quality and impact on the community.
IBM Champions receive the title for one year, and as part of this recognition Dr. Middelfart will represent Tampa-based Lumina and contribute regularly to the body of knowledge around IBM products and offerings and to the technical community. As an IBM Champion, he will also have opportunities to support technical communities by running user groups and conferences, writing blogs and articles, contributing code and content to forums, and speaking at conferences.
In October 2020, Lumina announced a partnership with IBM where it moved its Radiance solution to the IBM Cloud. As part of the agreement, Lumina signed an IBM Embedded Solution Agreement (ESA) that offers opportunities to go to market together with IBM. Since then, Lumina has continued to work with IBM to elevate the speed and accuracy of Radiance, as well as to bring this critical solution to IBM clients and prospects worldwide.
