Despite a turbulent business climate throughout 2020, the Lumina team has made great strides and is preparing for an exciting 2021, building on exciting announcements, including a partnership with IBM.

To support this growth, Lumina has announced two key team member promotions: Rick Langley to Vice President of Infrastructure and Technology and Daniel Ward to Vice President of Software Engineering and Development.

“Both Rick and Daniel have been vital parts of the Lumina team to help get us to where we are today,” said Lumina Chief Data Scientist and Co-Founder Dr. Morton Middelfart. “Their expertise, dedication and innovative approach will help us as we continue our growth throughout the rest of this year and beyond.”

“This is a passionate team that is relentlessly dedicated to success, and I’m excited to be able to bring my experience forward as we look to expand and grow in the coming months. Lumina was founded on the idea that technology is a force for good and I am proud to be part of the team.”

Rick, who previously served as Director of IT Operations, is now responsible for creating the technology and infrastructure strategy, goals, and objectives for Lumina, and guiding the infrastructure management across various divisions and acquisitions, ensuring optimal performance. He is also responsible for the implementation and maintenance of Lumina’s existing technical systems and platforms, and coordinating IT projects and priorities, staff, and third-party support resources at different business divisions and add-on acquisitions located around the country.

Rick has over two decades of industry experience, including leadership roles at Targit US, Inc. in Tampa and The Park National Bank in Newark, Ohio, and holds multiple industry certifications.

“It’s an honor to be a part of such an innovative and forward-thinking team,” said Langley. “We’ve made some amazing advances over the last couple of years, and I’m excited to be a part of the great work that we’ll do in the future.”

Daniel was promoted from Director of Cloud Architecture and now leads the engineering teams, including Quality Assurance and Development Operations, to plan and execute large scale application integration projects. He also manages software project planning and new feature development strategy, and evaluates solutions to identify improvement areas and enhance the functionality of Lumina solutions.

Daniel has a broad range of industry experience, having held leadership positions at several companies where he was able to provide integrated and robust technology solutions to help those organizations meet business objectives.

“I’m grateful to the Lumina leadership team for the opportunity to continue to be a part of the incredible work that we’ve done to help clients and communities protect their people and place,” said Ward.
